Depuis près de 35 ans, Eddy Louiss suit un parcours musical très personnel, toujours avec son propre groupe et peut-ètre, à l'exeption de Stan Getz, sans véritable collaboration avec d'autres grands Jazzmen.
Aussi lorsque le soir du 17 Août 1988, André Damon eut l'idée de programmer un duo avec Michel Petrucciani, les résultats dépassèrent ses espérances. La rencontre des deux grands eut lieu au "Petit Journal Montparnasse" : chaleur torride, salle comble et près de 300 personnes à la porte, déçues de ne pouvoir assister au concert. Notre obsession fut de renouveler cette expérience musicale hors du commun.
Michel Petrucciani, sillonnant la planète, se trouvait rarement disponible. En Juillet 93, Michel et Eddy se retrouvèrent face à face, au Festival de Montreux pour une "Dreyfus Night", dans un "Summertime" somptueux où déjà éclatait l'évidente complicité de ces deux grands artistes.
La rencontre tant souhaitée eut lieu finalement le 31 Mai 1994, à la Maison de la Radio, devant un parterre attentif d'amis, de musiciens, d'artistes et de journalistes de tous les médias spécialisés.
Après un accueil chaleureux et oh! combien enthousiaste de tous les participants, Eddy et Michel souhaitèrent conserver une trace phonographique de leur collaboration, qui fut enregistrée pendant trois soirées magiques au "Petit Journal Montparnasse" les 14, 15 et 16 Juin 1994.

For 35 years now, Eddy Louiss has been leading a very personal musical carreer, always with his own band and perhaps without ever working with another great jazzmen, apart from Stan Getz.
So, on the night of August 17 th, 1988, when André Damon had the idea of programming a duo with Michel Petrucciani, the results were beyond his wildest dreams. The two great musicians met at the "Petit Journal Montparnasse"; Picture the scene of a jampacked hall, an oppressive heat and almost 300 disappointed people crowding at the door.
From then on, Francis Dreyfus and myself had an obsession and that was tp repeat that extraordinary musical experience.
But travelling all over the world, Michel Petrucciani was always very busy. In July 1993 however, Michel and Eddy got together at the Montreux Festival for a "Dreyfus Night". And in the sumptuous "Summertime" that they played, the obvious complicity of the the two great artists could be felt from the start.
The expected meeting finally took place on May 31st, 1994, at the "Maison de la Radio", in front of an attentive public of friends, musicians, artits and specialized journalists from all media.
After such a warm and enthusiastic welcome from all participants, Eddy and Michel wanted to keep track of their collaboration, which was recorded over three magical nights at the "Petit Journal", on June 14th, 15th, 16th, 1994.

Es sind nun schon 35 Jahre, dass Eddie Louis eine sehr eigenständige musikalische Karriere betreibt. Stets mit seiner eigenen Band und auch ohne die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen großen Jazzmusikern, abgesehen von Stan Getz.
Als Andrè Damon am Abend des 17. August 1988 die Idee hatte ein Duo mit Michel Petrucciani zusammenzustellen war das Ergebnis jenseits seiner kühnsten Träume. Die zwei großartigen Musiker trafen sich im "Petit Journal Montparnasse". Stellen sie sich einen vollbesetzten Saal vor, eine bedrückende Hitze und beinahe 300 enttäuschte Menschen, die sich vor der Tür stauten.
Von da an waren Francis Dreyfus und ich davon besessen diese außergewöhnlich musikalische Erfahrung zu wiederholen.
Aber Michel Petrucciani war immer sehr beschäftigt, weil er ständig um die Welt tourte. Jedoch im Juli 1993 kamen Michel und Eddie auf dem Montreux Festival im Rahmen einer "Dreyfus Nacht" zusammen. Im aufwendigen "Summertime", das sie spielten, konnte man von Anfang an das offensichtliche Können der beiden großen Jazzmusiker erkennen.
Das lang erwartete Treffen fand schließlich am 31. Mai 1994 in der "Maison de la radio", vor aufmerksamen Publikum, Musikern, Künstlern und ausgewählten Journalisten aus allen Medien, statt.
Nachdem sie von allen Beteiligten herzlich und begeistert empfangen wurden, wollten Eddy und Michel die Aufnahmen ihrer Zusammenkunft behalten, welche an drei magische Abenden am 14., 15., und 16. Juni 1994 im "Petit Journal" gemacht wurden.
